RENTAL DISASTER PHOTOS
Not for the faint of heart!
Not for the faint of heart!
This first grouping of photos were taken at the two homes I had to foreclose on.
These photos were taken after various renters had
moved out of various rental properties.
The rest of the photos were taken of the two homes that had fires.
I was prompted to create this page because a "lady" thought it was her duty to tell me what a bad person I was for requiring large down payments and good credit to purchase my homes. (CLICK HERE TO SEE HER LETTER AND MY RESPONSE) No one knows what it's like to be a landlord. From the outside I'm sure it must seem like money just appears in your mailbox every month. No one takes into account how often you have to wait, beg, and fight to get that rent payment the tenant has contractually agreed to pay. And when you actually do receive the payment on time, the "proceeds" fly right back out the door in terms of mortgage payments, interest, taxes, insurance, and repairs. Damages as seen above can rarely be recovered with a tenant's deposit, so guess whose pocket it comes out of ... the landlord's! Sure, we can take a tenant to court and get a judgement against them, but usually these renters have no assets and bounce from job to job in order to avoid garnishment of wages. The odds of recovering any monetary compensation is next to nil.
There are so many good people out there without homes.... families that have literally nothing and would be thankful just to have a roof over their heads. Why anyone who's been given a chance for that opportunity would allow themselves to live in this way is simply beyond my grasp. Most of us do not start our adult life with a luxury home. We start by renting... first an apartment and maybe later a house. Whether it's short term or long term, we save our pennies until we can afford to buy our own. We start with a small home, and as funds allow, we trade up to a larger ones. You don't have to live outside your means. Whether it's your home or someone else's, big or small, old or new... fill it with love. Your home is an extension of yourself. No one expects perfection, but you don't need to live like the tenants/owners above have done. Take responsibility and make your home a place you can be proud of.
