The Current Condition Status:
It is not in perfect condition... probably "fair" at best. It has a dent near the front passenger door as well as some rust on the lower portion below the passenger front door which is covered in white spray paint. There are also a few chips in the paint that have slight rust trails. It is missing one of the rim covers and has a stain on the back seat that I've not tried to clean. The photos on CL do not show detail and it appears to be in better condition than it really is. Please see the photos below for closeups of problem areas.
The Current Mechanical Status:
The car WAS running great up until two weeks ago when it began to get a little sluggish turning over. Several days later, it would try to turn over and then fall silent (no clicking). I'd try again and it would start. Once started it ran great. This happened twice. I talked to my family mechanics back in Oregon and they seemed to rule out the battery and alternator and thought it was probably the starter or the the attachments to it. Two days ago, I tried to start it, but it would not turn over. It continued to try to turn over as long as I held the key, but simply wouldn't start. I again talked to my mechanics back home and was told it could possibly be a broken timing belt although I did replace that in 2007 (less than 40K miles ago). Also, there is a slight thumping when brakes are depressed which usually means it's time to replace the rotor/linings again.
Due to these faults, I used low kelly blue book for value and dropped the price from there. I'm no mechanic, so please take a look and make an assessment for yourself.

CLOSE UP OF PROBLEM AREAS
That's the story. I've now purchased a new car and need to get the old one out of the driveway before winter. I've cut the low KBB price almost in half (and then reduced it again) in the hopes that some mechanical genius out there will know exactly what's wrong with it, be able to fix it inexpensively and come away with a good driving car. If I get no interest over the next week or so, I will donate it and take the tax write off. If you do purchase it, plan on meeting me at DMV to transfer title as I want to make sure it's out of my name.
